Explain Xkcd T-Cells

That protein is in turn detected by various immune cells, e. g. dendritic cells, and presented to the lymph nodes, which then causes B- and T-cells to proliferate which are sensitive to the specific antigen. The T-cells do circulate in the blood, finally. Nitpicking 03:36, 26 December 2020 (UTC), The T-cells will activate B-cells, who will then try to make antibodies to bind the spike protein. Since the B-cells don’t know what a good antibody looks like, they just randomly generate antibodies through a process of somatic hypermutation. Then they check if the antibody binds the antigen presented by the dendritic cells.

In November 2010, Megan, then fiancĂ©e (now wife) of Randall Munroe, the illustrator behind the brilliant webcomic xkcd, received the devastating diagnosis of stage III breast cancer.Throughout her eight months of treatment, xkcd posted several comics about the diagnosis, treatment options, T-Cells, gaining perspective, getting tattooed for radiation , and fear of looking too far into the future, xkcd .com Recent changes Random page All comics Browse comics RSS feed Help, https://www.explainxkcd.com/wiki/index.php/938: 938: T-Cells – explain xkcd https://www.explainxkcd.com/wiki/index.php/939 : 939: Arrow – explain xkcd https://www.explainxkcd.com/wiki/index.php/940 : 940: Oversight – explain xkcd, 2/25/2021  · It’s because in the XKCD comic, the Fake Death Star is a human cell making spike proteins and the Real Death Star is a virus particle covered in spike proteins. 2/26/2021  · That last part is probably a bit confusing. It’s because in the XKCD comic, the Fake Death Star is a human cell making spike proteins and the Real Death Star is a virus particle covered in spike proteins. So although the two look the same, they represent different objects: either a cell or a virus (the objects are different sizes too, but that’s not particularly important).

3/4/2021  · The Rebel fleet is the immune system and consists of spaceships that shoot ‘proton torpedoes’ at the Death Star, such as X-wing and Y-wing starfighters that could represent the B-cells and T-cells of the adaptive immune system. In XKCD ‘s comic, Leia shouts Build more torpedoes!, Webcomic XKCD recently used Star Wars to illustrate how mRNA vaccines work. The analogy revolves around how the Rebel fleet destroys the Death Star after seeing its blueprints, which is similar to how your immune system can defeat a Coronavirus infection after cells read the messenger RNA (mRNA) in a vaccine. Using mRNA is counterintuitive.
